Why We Only Ask for a First Name and Last Initial
A note on why your child's name field is intentionally minimal.
When you add a child, we only ever need a first name, plus a last name or just a last initial — never a full legal name, date of birth, or any government ID.
That's enough for us to tell your children apart from each other, or from other children on the same class roster or team. It has no other purpose, so we don't ask for more.
Since this field is free text you control, you're always welcome to enter something like "Emma S." instead of "Emma Smith." The Service works exactly the same way either way.
